Missions

Sharing with the world how we have been forever changed by Jesus Christ is wired into CCF’s DNA. Over the last few years alone, we’ve helped to rebuild the homes and lives of Katrina victims, worked in orphanages in Romania, led puppet shows for children in Bolivia, built churches in Mexico, fished (and spread the Good News) to Alaskans, and ministered to AIDS patients in Africa. Although the trips may sometimes only be a couple weeks in length, the friendships and memories can last a lifetime. And whether working in soup kitchens in large metropolitan areas or building houses in small towns that most people have never heard of, these trips are a time where people are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and experience God in life-changing ways. But that’s not all. Over the years, as our community has traveled the world together, individuals are finding a stirring in their hearts to return to these places – sometimes for a few months or a year – sometimes for life. It’s an exciting time to be alive, and nothing is better than giving our all for the King of the nations. You too can be a part of what the Lord is doing through the CCF community around the world.

Bolivia 2010

Dear CCF Friends,
This summer we have the amazing opportunity to take a team down to Cochabamba Bolivia.  We will be working along side Dan and Daryl Collins, and amazing missionary family that actually came out of CCF.  Their main need is for a short term team that is wanting to help with their new ministry called Project Bless.  Project Bless came out of their student leadership team as a response to the question, How do you want to reach your peers for Christ?  Currently BLESS is a Volleyball ministry that consists of two city league teams.  They use V-ball to as a platform to build relationships in which they can share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Bless also has a student ministry center that runs along side it.  They are wanting to expand the ministry to Soccer and Basketball.  So they need help raising funds for equipmment and workers to help jump start these teams.  If you at all think you may be interested in long term mission work, this would be the trip for you.  There is need for interns who would want to commit two years to these projects, so this could be a jump start into that.
As a short term team, not only will we be working with project Bless, possibly helping to run a sports camp or clinic, but we would be once again working with Compassion International.  Compassion helps to provide children a safe place to go before and after school, as most parents have to work multiple jobs just to survive.  Also there is a possibility that we will be helping with some painting projects.
Though the exact details are still unknown, if you have a heart for serving others, please pray about joining this team.   We are tentatively planning on going the last 2 weeks in August.  In order to raise the support necessary we need to get a team together ASAP!!!  So if you are at all interested or if you have questions please shoot me, Emily McMahon (emcmahonsteratgmail [dot] com) or Matt Jones (mjones10atuoreon [dot] edu) an email as we will be heading the trip up.  The sooner we can get our plane tickets the less expensive they will be, and the sooner we have a team together the more time we have to bond!!!
I hope that you are all having a wonderful Christmas season and I look forward to seeing you all next year!!! Happy last bit of 2009!
                      Much Love in Him,
                                 Emily
PS- Even if you know you aren't interested in going, or don't feel called to go, please please please be keeping us and Bolivia as a whole in your prayers!!!!  Also we are gonna need all of you to help us to raise support for project Bless and for this short term team.  So if you have any fundraising ideas feel free to send them my way!

Matthew 9:35-38
35 Jesus traveled through all the cities and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And wherever he went, he healed people of every sort of disease and illness. 36 He felt great pity for the crowds that came, because their problems were so great and they didn't know where to go for help. They were like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, "The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send out more workers for his fields."

Venezuela Adventure!

Campus Crusade in Venezuela has asked for a group of believers from the US to visit two college campuses in San Cristobal.  They have a staff of six working with several thousand students, and have found the environment to be ripe for the explosive growth of Jesus' love.
Students in San Cristobal (and all of Venezuela) are drawn to "Americanos", as they call us.  We've been to Venezuela several times, and have seen students line up to talk to us, many saying they've never talked with an American before.  While groups have gone to other parts of Venezuela, this would be the first group to focus directly on the two campuses in San Cristobal.

We plan to fly from Portland on February 5th, and return on February 14th.  The cost will be $2500 (or less, depending on fluctuating airfares).  Students would miss one week of classes and a Friday.  And you would make an eternal impact in the hearts of many Venezuelans.
